Dovehaven Care Home has a great location close to the Victorian town centre of Southport, which is a traditional seaside town with a beautiful coastline and plenty of amenities to enjoy.

Dovehaven is located a few minutes walk from the north end of Lord Street and is also within walking distance of Southport Promenade and Hesketh Park. The Southport Marina is less than ten minutes away on foot.

Southport is a traditional retirement seaside town with a beautiful coastline and an elegant Victorian centre. Southport was originally built in the late 1700’s but was further developed in the 1800’s for the Victorians, as a holiday resort.

[ Lord Street ]Lord Street, Southport

Lord Street is a mile-long, tree-lined boulevard in Southport. It is renowned for its high quality shopping and beautiful buildings. There are a number of glass- vaulted shopping arcades off Lord Street including Wayfarers Arcade, Cambridge Walks, Royal Arcade and Marble Place.

[ Soutport Pier ]Victoria Park

Victoria Park is a large park at the end of the promenade that is home to the yearly Famous Southport Flower Show which is held each August. This is tranquil park running along the stunning flower lined ' Rotten Row ' an excellent place for a walk and enjoying the scenery.

[ Soutport Pier ]The Pier

Southport Pier is one of the longest piers in the UK and was also one of the first to be built in iron. The Pier was first built in 1859 and has been recently restored. You can take the Pier Tram from the pier head to the Pavilion at the end of the pier where you can enjoy a cup of tea in the Pavilion Café. From the end of the pier there are stunning views of the Ribble Estuary and the North West coastline.

[ Promenade ]The Promenade

The Promenade is part of Southport’s Victorian seafront featuring a bronze statue of Queen Victoria. Along the Promenade is the beautiful King's Gardens and you’ll also find the Marine Lake where you can take in the views over the water. The impressive Marine Way Bridge crosses the Marine Lake.[ Botanic Gardens ]

Botanic Gardens

The Botanic Gardens is a delightful Victorian park in Southport. It’s an ideal place to go for a relaxing walk or to sit on one of the many benches and watch the world go by. The gardens surround a lake and are beautifully laid out and full of flowers. The gardens also contain a museum featuring exhibitions of Victoriana, an Aviary and Tea Rooms.
