[ Soutport Pier ]The Pier

Southport Pier is one of the longest piers in the UK and was also one of the first to be built in iron. The Pier was first built in 1859 and has been recently restored. You can take the Pier Tram from the pier head to the Pavilion at the end of the pier where you can enjoy a cup of tea in the Pavilion Café. From the end of the pier there are stunning views of the Ribble Estuary and the North West coastline.

Botanic Gardens

The Botanic Gardens is a delightful Victorian park in Southport. s an ideal place to go for a relaxing walk or to sit on one of the many benches and watch the world go by. The gardens surround a lake and are beautifully laid out and full of flowers. The gardens also contain a museum featuring exhibitions of Victoriana, an Aviary and Tea Rooms.

Coastline

The coast surrounding Southport is made up of 21 miles of beach, sand dunes, woodland and farmland, which are a haven for flora and fauna. Much of the area is a protected Nature Reserve to protect local endangered species including the Formby Red Squirrel and Natterjack Toads. The area has many places to sit or walk to take in the stunning scenery.
